The average Australian car travels around 15,000 kilometres a year, which puts a 2005 commuter somewhere near 300,000 km by now. Sounds terminal. Isn't. The best-selling cars of that era (Corolla, Camry, HiLux, Falcon, Commodore) sold in such numbers that parts demand stays alive decades later, and their engines were built to be repaired, not replaced. That demand is real money, and it flows through our workshop every week.
What actually kills an old car's value isn't age. It's the repair-quote trap: a $2,500 quote on a $3,000 car makes owners give up, right at the moment a workshop like ours could do the same job at trade cost and put the car back to work.
