MECHANICAL FAULTS
Sell a Car With Mechanical Problems: Engine, Gearbox, Electrical
Blown engine, cooked gearbox, or a fault three mechanics couldn't find. The repair quote isn't the end of the road. A major fault doesn't automatically mean scrap value: we have in-house repair capability, and we assess the whole vehicle, not just the fault.

THE HONEST POSITION
The repair quote that's more than the car? That's our starting point.
Blown head gasket. Cooked gearbox. An engine that knocks like it's asking to be let out. Electrical problems three mechanics couldn't find. Repair quotes that exceed the car's value are the moment most people call us, and they're right to. Our team repairs mechanical and electrical faults in-house, so a car that's a money pit to you is a project to us. Tell us what's wrong (as best you know) and we'll assess it with the fault, not despite it.
One thing worth knowing before you talk to anyone: a mechanical fault by itself does not mean a vehicle is recorded as written off. “Written off” is a specific status on a NSW register after an insurer assesses a total loss. A dead gearbox on its own is just a dead gearbox, and the car around it still has value. We assess age, kilometres, condition, fault type, model demand, repairability and completeness. See exactly how we value your car.
You don't need a diagnosis before you call. Symptoms are enough. “It overheats after ten minutes.” “It won't go into reverse.” “It starts when it feels like it.” That's the language we price from, and the price holds as long as the description did. Tell us the symptoms in the quote form and we'll take it from there.
We buy and collect non-running vehicles, and pickup can be arranged as part of the purchase, whether the car has been dead in the garage for a week or for two years.
A car that's a money pit to you is a project to us.
NSW RULES · KNOW WHERE YOU STAND
- You don't need to diagnose it. Describe the symptoms honestly and we price from there.
- Non-runners can't be driven to a buyer. Pickup is free and arranged as part of the purchase.
- Owe money on it? Finance payouts are handled at settlement. Just tell us up front.
HOW WE ASSESS
Our in-house repair capability is one factor in how we assess vehicles with major faults.

Electrical diagnostics
Wiring, sensors and modules diagnosed by our own auto-electrical team.

Mechanical-fault questions, straight answers
Yes. Dead engines are one of the most common things we buy. Seized, knocking, head gasket gone, timing chain let go: our workshop rebuilds and replaces engines in-house, so a non-runner still carries real value. Tell us the symptoms and we'll give you a number with the fault priced in.
Get a quote →Almost certainly yes. A cooked automatic or a crunching manual puts off private buyers because replacement quotes run into thousands, but gearbox work is routine in our own workshop. A major fault doesn't automatically mean scrap value: we assess the whole vehicle, not just the fault, and pickup is still free.
Get a quote →We do. Electrical faults can be difficult to diagnose. Our in-house capability allows us to assess the vehicle with that fault in mind: our team diagnoses and repairs electrical faults in-house. Sensors, looms, modules, mysterious battery drains. Describe the symptoms honestly and we price the car with the fault, not despite it.
